A True Coach and Athlete
A True Coach sees your faults, weaknesses, and the things you need to improve. But they also see your potential and what you are capable of—which embarks a vision. Our goal is to get you to see this vision! But we must do this in a way where you are the one creating it! No one else can provide this for you… but we can help guide you through mind-body exercise, thought-provoking questions, and shared perspective. We can teach you the importance of attentiveness, focus, and reflection—steering you in the right direction toward your personal vision. What you create out of this is up to you!
A True Coach cares deeply about the success of his or her athletes, clients, or patients. It becomes hard sometimes when we do not see the initial progress we would like to in the people we work with. That is when we must evaluate our approach. What can I do differently? What has been working? What has not? Then—reapproach! The answer will never be to give up, because we preach perseverance—and giving up is not practicing what we preach.
A True Athlete must not want to be completely reliant on the coach for motivation and discipline. Those ultimately need to come intrinsically—from within. They can learn to use the coach as a guide to become independent, gain a better understanding of him or herself, and soak in wisdom so the athlete can grow. The athlete must appreciate the coach, see them as a human being, and believe in their guidance.
A True Coach must do their best to bring out this type of intrinsic motivation and discipline, because he or she knows that is what's best for the athlete’s future! Independence is freedom!
“You can feed a person a fish and they will be rid of hunger for the day—you can teach a person to fish and they can feed themselves for a lifetime.” – Lao Tzu
Imagine you learn from a coach who has had the same experience as you. Then, you mold that into your own character, your own athlete, and become the person you aspire to be! That is our goal for you. Your success fuels our path!
