The Board Game of Life

Picture the sum of life's experiences as if they were a game board. Each space you land on is with the luck of the roll. We have no decision to make here besides approaching each space–meaning experience; with the objective to learn. This board game has no finish line! But, each time you pass a space the objective within that space changes. Maybe elevating to a more extreme adversity, challenge, or hidden message.

You think the space you are currently playing is challenging. But this space is only preparing you for the next one. If you approach each experience with the objective to learn—you become more equipped to handle future endeavors. Life's journey gets harder and harder each time you circle the board. But in reflection, you pull from each lesson and gain a deeper understanding of yourself.

The game board becomes of less color over time, but the core is vulnerable, and kind—-its pure humility. There is no more performing, desire to be liked, or judgement here. It is solely life's true meaning, which is to love, be kind, and share wisdom with the future generations.

I have found that most people later in the game approach life so much differently than those in the beginning. They are more appreciative, fulfilled, and true to themselves. What if the ones who have less experience circling the board decided to take a page out of the experienced playbook? Maybe we would be able to view the world from the same eyes they do, but for a longer duration of time.

We care so much about the things that do not really matter in this world. Social status, name brands, money—those really have no worth, yet we value them over experience, learning, and love? If we ask everyone who is later in the journey what to value I am sure they would tell us the opposite of what we are caring about the most right now. Our ego wants to avoid this side, but as we age the ego becomes weaker and humility takes the strength.

Humility is happy, kind, and genuine—while ego is aggressive, jealous, and envious. The piece you move throughout the board resembles your true character. Your character lies in your ability to stay true to your beliefs. Each character is unique, and they all have specialties. You get to choose which character you play–the one that aligns with your core values.

The journey is both long and short, easy but difficult—but all worth it because it's life's most precious gift. We must appreciate the ability to circle this board as many times as life allows us. You and your experiences are the most valuable thing on this planet! Treat them with love and care! Accept wisdom and cherish it with care, and gratitude because there is only one direction—that is forward.
